Bengaluru police on Thursday arrested a driver of cab aggregator Uber following allegations that he misbehaved with a woman passenger working with a software company.
The police flung into action after the woman's brother uploaded a message on social media saying the driver committed a "lewd" act by "touching himself" in an inappropriate manner several times while waiting at a traffic signal on Tuesday.
"On the basis of the message updated on social media, we have taken a complaint from the woman and filed an FIR," DCP, South-East Division M B Boralingaiah said.
According to the woman's brother, the driver first denied any wrong-doing, but when confronted, admitted to the act and apologised.
Meanwhile, Uber said it had spoken to both the rider and driver.
"The driver partner was waitlisted immediately after we received the complaint from the rider. We have provided all the information that has been asked for by the authorities, to help them with their investigation," a Uber spokesperson said.
