Ujjain: Eid celebrations in Ujjain on Monday were marred by a case of food poisoning in which almost 200 people fell ill after eating from a food stall at a fair. The victims were admitted to nearby hospitals and clinics.
A case has been registered against the stall vendor who was selling the food at Kedi gate under Jiwajiganj police station area.
Ujjain MP Prem Chand Guddu visited the hospitals and met the victims of food poisoning and assured them of help.
Relatives of the victims alleged that the food and drug department was not active during Eid and did not check the food stalls at the fair.
