Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress in Kerala on Tuesday alleged there is a strong, secret alliance between the state units of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). "This is not new, but this unholy alliance appears to have gone from strength to strength and their single point agenda is their antipathy towards the Congress party," state Congress chief president Ramesh Chennithala told reporters here.
"We are not at all worried but this is a threat to the secular fabric of the state and that is a cause of worry. The CPM over the years has been engaged in promoting either minority communalism or majority communalism," added Chennithala.
"I can give you numerous examples where these two parties are hand in glove and at several local bodies they have joined hands to oust the Congress from power. The most visible form of this alliance came out at the fag end of the previous Left government's (V.S. Achuthanandan) tenure when the then state government sanctioned amnesty for some jailed BJP activists," added Chennithala.
