UP: BSP MLA held hostage by Chandauli residents over constant power cuts
Reportedly, the villagers were upset over the constant power cuts in the area.

Chandauli: In a bizarre incident, a Bahujan Samaj Party MLA was held hostage by residents over constant power cuts in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli district on Saturday.

The MLA and a local councillor had gone to greet residents on the ocassion of Id but they refused to accept it and held them hostage.

Local police rushed to the spot and held talks with villagers after which they freed Chauhan, Superintendent of Police, Muniraj said.

An assurance was given to solve their problems, and also no complaint was given by the MLA to police and the matter was resolved then and there itself, he said.

Reportedly, the villagers were upset over the constant power cuts in the area.
