HYDERABAD: Bolywood actress Vidya Balan and producer Ekta Kapoor on Wednesday filed a petition in the High Court seeking to quash the criminal case filed by Nallakunta police on December 17.It may be recalled that Nallakunta police, following a local court directive in connection with a petition filed by an advocate, registered a criminal case against the actress for obscenity. The petitioner complained that indecent posters of the Balan-starrer Dirty Picture, were pasted across the city causing embarassment to women.HC Dismisses Plea in Prostitution Case Meanwhile, Justice Raja Elango of AP High Court dismissed a criminal petition filed by M Kousalya and six others who were being prosecuted for offences under the Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act. The petitioners unsuccessfully questioned order of the VII Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate, Warangal who had earlier dismissed similar application. The judge took on file the government order which had delegated powers to the CI to initiate action against the accused and dismissed the petition. Following the decision, the petitioners would now face charges of being sex workers. The petitioners earlier contended the CI had initiated action against them without the authority of law.
