KOCHI: Close on the heels of District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth’s orders for the strict regulation of potable water sources, the District Medical Office has come up with a list of wells in the city from where water could be used for drinking purpose. The private tanker lorries will now be able to draw water only from select wells, apart from the sources of the Kerala Water Authority. A total of 83 wells have been identified from across the district. “The Health Department has identified these wells based on a set of strict guidelines. The guidelines were put forth based on a meeting with the District Collector in connection with the potable water crisis in the city, said District Medical Officer R Sudhakaran. The water tanker lorries are permitted to source water only from these points. If more wells are to be included, then the owners must follow the requirements and send their applications to the District Medical office.
