Burdwan: A deaf and mute tribal woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Belgachi village in Burdwan district on Wednesday, a senior police officer said.
Superintendent of Police of Burdwan SMH Meerza said that the 25-year-old woman was called by her neighbour Uttam Das to his house. Das was alone in his house as his wife had gone to visit her parent's house with their son.
Das allegedly raped the woman in his house. The woman informed her family. They lodged a complaint against Das at the Purbasthali police station.
The woman has been admitted to Kalna sub-divisional hospital, the SP added.
