New Delhi: Today is Navy Day, a day on which we celebrate the achievements and role of our Naval force. And, the biggest weapon in our naval prowess is no doubt our only aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.
Commanding Officer of INS Vikramaditya Captain Ajay Kochhar and fighter pilot of MiG 29 Abhijit Bhute have quite a thrilling life. After all, they are the ones running the largest warship in India's fleet—INS Vikramaditya. In an exclusive interview to CNN News18, the duo talk about the thrills of being on-board the 45,400-tonne warship.

This Navy day, take a glimpse at the challenges, the rigour and the responsibility of leading India's biggest diplomatic weapon. She fills the enemy's heart with fear wherever she goes.
"It is great. We go for longer bouts of practice sessions. There are extensive briefings and de-briefings," Cdr Abhijit said.

Recently, the Navy has undertaken long range deployment. This means that the warships are being sent on missions for extended periods. "This has also put increased pressure on the frontline units," Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Western Naval Command said.
