BAGALKOT: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar said that the government has decided to inquire into the alleged irregularities in the implementation of Mahattma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNRGS) in the district and a retired judge would be appointed for the purpose. The Minister told reporters here on Sunday that as many as 300 complaints in this regard have been received from different parts of the state and a thorough investigation would be made and retired judges would be appointed as ombudsmen to conduct the probe. Necessary action would be initiated against those who are responsible for such alleged irregularities and steps would be taken for its successful implementation, he said. The scheme was introduced to achieve development in rural areas, but unfortunately there are irregularities in its implementation, he added. The government has given more importance for creating basic amenities under Swachhata Andalona.
