Mumbai: Save water, global harmony and all such social messages told animatedly within the short span of a minute-and-a-half made winners out of students at the 24 FPS Animation Awards.
With a jury consisting of producers from Dreamworks and other prestigious animation studios from across the world, the students from India put their best foot forward.
“Today there are people coming from studios all over the world and they will be knowing me as a person and as an individual, it feels great and boosts our confidence,” winner of 24 FPS animation awards, Students Category, Dipan Gajjar said.
The Awards, instituted by Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics and promoted by filmmaker Ketan Mehta, were given to students in various categories from animation, to lighting and production values to modelling and texturing.
“The ideas they come up with and stylish techniques that were used was fascinating and I was thrilled by the students’ films,” Mehta said.
It wasn't just the students who walked away as the winners. Horn Ok Please — the story of a Mumbai cabbie won the Best Animated film in the Production House category.
“It's very encouraging as it drives you to make better films,” Co-director and animator, Horn Ok Please, Vaibhav Kumaresh said.
Also felicitated at the award ceremony was the guru of animation in India, Ram Mohan whose animated works include the Ek Chidiya series and Ramayan.
