BHADRAK: A youth was arrested by Bhadrak police on Tuesday on the charges of raping and killing a minor who had gone to witness Bahuda Yatra last night. The accused Abana Jena has been remanded in judicial custody after the court rejected his bail plea.Police sources said Jena, a native of Ichhada village under Dhamnagar police station limits, had lured the 13-year-old girl offering her a lift till her house in the same village. Dhamnagar Police Station IIC P L Bhuyan said, “He dragged the girl to a sugarcane field and raped her. When she threatened to divulge it to her parents, he strangulated her to death,” he said. Jena confessed to the crime, police added. The accused has undergone medical examination. A rape and murder case has been registered.
