While there have been some exquisite ensembles on the red carpet of Oscars so far, there have also been tremendous variety fashion faux pas. We simply can't miss the outfits that not only failed to leave a mark on the minds of fashionistas but even entered our list of worst picks of all times. From the hideous ones to the downright disastrous dresses; not everyone managed to make the right choices and ended up disappointed their fans. Maybe, for some stars, it just wasn't their night to shine. And no, we don't condemn such looks; after all red carpet can always use a little excitement, right?

As we gear up for the 88th Academy Awards, let's take a look back at some of the most outrageous outfits from the red carpet of the previous editions of this prestigious award show that ended up becoming up the most iconic ones!

In 1987 edition of Oscars, Cher opted for a Bob Mackie's creation and teamed it up with an overly-feathered headpiece. From the beaded black attire to the hideous cape; it was all just a big catastrophe to say say the least.

Geena Davis clearly confused the 1992 Oscars night with a kids costume party. While she did make it to the worst dressed list, but you just can't miss her gorgeous smile!

Donning a white Dior suit, Celine Dion made heads turn at 1999's show but clearly not for the right reasons. Apparently, she took the creativity too seriously with the addition of the studded sunglasses.

Bjork's 'swan dress' at Oscars 2001 is definitely unmissable! She turned up in a Marjan Pejoski's designed feathered frock that might not have made it to the best dressed list, but definitely paved its way to the iconic red carpet dresses of all times.

Diana Keaton, in 2004, decided to keep the menswear-inspired look alive in this attire. After playing the iconic 'Annie Hall', this look doesn't come as a surprise.
