Known as a superfood, these leaves are beneficial for almost every organ of the body. Not only is it easy to incorporate them into the diet, but the taste is also easy to adapt to. Amaranth leaves are much superior to other greens as they are a powerhouse of nutrients.
Nutritionist Lovneet Batra, in an Instagram post, explained some of the health benefits of Amaranth leaves.
Lowers cholesterol: One of the key health benefits of Amaranth leaves, includes its ability to lower the blood cholesterol level. The high fiber content is effective in reducing LDL levels in the blood.
Diabetes: Amaranth leaves can lower blood sugar levels in Type 2 diabetics. The protein in the leaves helps reduce insulin levels in the blood and release a hormone that lessens hunger pranks and prevents overeating.
Lowers risk of calcium deficiency: Amaranth leaves are rich in calcium which helps in having a healthy development of bones, and preventing osteoporosis.
Protection against cancer: The nutritionist said the presence of lysine (an essential amino acid) along with Vitamin E, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and Vitamin C in the leaves helps to fight against free radicals, that are responsible for ageing and formation of malignant cells which helps in fighting against cancer.
