After a hard day at work, not everybody is excited about the thought of spending time in the kitchen cooking a healthy dinner. And that's when you look for options to eat out. To unwind. To be in good company. To spend a quality evening with family. So when I dropped in at The Ancient Barbeque, aka TAB, all I wanted was good food. And this restaurant just didn't disappoint.
Decor: Those who have visited would ask what so different about its décor - it just offers a blend of rustic and contemporary ideas - something which isn't unique, right? But it is the perfection with which the two contrasting thoughts merge and help the place stand out that really matters. With a seating capacity of over 100 people, it could be an option to organise parties/important events. The tables, organised in a linear patter, have a tiny space that can accommodate a grill used to keep the kababs warm. The music played in the background is funky. The restaurant has several paintings adorning the walls, soft and comfy and a well-lit counter for buffet. Everything here seems both careful and considered. But if privacy is what you want, don't expect it here!
Food: The menu features dozens of dishes, from a huge array of salads to starters to main course with a good mix of veggie, meat and fish options. So if you are a pure vegetarian, try Salsa Potato - it is soft, luscious and doesn't take too long to melt in mouth. Dahi Ke Soole along with Mayo Corn, Bhutte Ki Shammi and Veg Dumpling can complete one's generous first round of starters. Amongst non-veg options, Peshawari Prawn, Chilli Prawn and Tai-Pai fish are deliciously done. Murgh Tikka Kasturi is nicely cooked and Mutton Seekh Bemisal taste as good as it looks. And with such interesting dish to savour, you are likely to forget Keema egg with Ulta Tawa Paratha. All this is served along with an equally interesting drinks menu that includes Cranberry Blossom, Green Fizz, Mojito, Winter Slide. With Barbequed Projkas (Grilled lemon chunks with mint leaves, brown sugar, lime juice top up with soda), Rapchik Mango (a concoction of Vanilla Ice-cream, Mango Juice, coconut syrup, mint leaves) and endless discussion on food, I left feeling relaxed and indulgently full.
