Mumbai: After Mumbai police decided to reduce the security cover of actors Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir issued a statement stating that he welcomed the decision. “I completely endorse the decision taken by Mumbai Police," stated Aamir.
“The police can be put to better use. When they need to increase the security, they will. I trust Mumbai Polcie completely," Aamir further added.
After a security audit done by the Mumbai Police, security cover of Aamir and SRK was reduced to two constables each.
Police confirmed they were providing security to around 40 Bollywood celebrities. However, the numbers have now reduced to 15 personalities who have genuine threats to their lives.
According to Police, manpower is wasted to provide security to Bollywood personalities and at times it is unwarranted. Security of 25 Bollywood personalities has been completely withdrawn which includes Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Farah Khan, Karim Morani and Ali Morani. Morani's were given security in August 2014, when members of the Ravi Pujari gang had opened fire at Ali Morani’s house.
