Ali Abbas Zafar Finally Opens Up on His Equation with Priyanka Chopra After Her Exit from Bharat

A lot has happened since Priyanka Chopra quit Ali Abbas Zafar’s upcoming film Bharat because of her wedding with American singer Nick Jonas.

Salman Khan was miffed and Katrina Kaif replaced Chopra in the film but Zafar did not say much on the situation other than announcing her exit. Now in an interview with Filmfare, he said he was very happy about Chopra beginning a new chapter in her life.

Talking about her leaving Bharat, Zafar said, “There were a lot of things that she was busy with. But I’m not going to say anything more about my ‘nick in time’ comment on Twitter. We all know the reality and the truth of the situation. As I’ve always maintained, we, as team Bharat, are extremely happy for Priyanka and where she’s in life right now.”

Clarifying that all was well between them, he added, “There’s only happiness between us. We’re friends and will always be friends.”

On Kaif coming on board, Zafar said, “Katrina loved the script. She was busy with three big films, Thugs of Hindostan, Zero and ABCD3. But she somehow squeezed in our dates. There have been some amendments in her character.”

Complimenting Kaif on her performance in their last outing Tiger Zinda Hai, he said, “Whatever Katrina went through professionally and personally in the past seven years affected Zoya (Katrina’s Tiger Zinda Hai character) on camera. I was pleasantly surprised with the kind of maturity she brought to her role.”
