Pune: Students of the Film and Television Institute of India have ended their hunger strike today but will continue the protest in a democratic way.
The 139 days long protest was against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the chairman.
The students have also announced that they will be returning to classes but will not engage in any talks with government officials.
They have been held several consultations with the Information and Broadcasting minister to resolve the matter.
After the news, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy took to called and called the students on strike as Naxalites. He wrote, “FII Naxalite students have abjectly surrendered in the face of our tough policy that students must study and have no veto on Chairman appt(sic).”
