Actor Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, recently shared personal insights into her life with the Bollywood star during her appearance on the podcast Timeout with Ankit. Alongside discussing her role as a devoted mother to their children, Yash and Tina, Sunita opened up about a heartbreaking loss she experienced. She revealed that she had lost another daughter when the baby was just three months old. Reflecting on her relationship with her children, Sunita spoke about her dedication to always being there for them.
Sunita explained the special bond she shares with her son, Yashvardhan, and the reason for it. “Yash is a little pampered because he is eight years younger than Tina. Before Yash, I had another daughter too, but she was premature and didn’t live. She was three months old when she expired; her lungs hadn’t developed. That is why I brought up Yash in a cocoon because I was scared. Now I have to fulfill all his wishes, but it’s fine,” she shared.
Sunita also revealed her playful side, stating, “I am the naughtiest in the family, but I am strict with both of them, though they are grown-ups now.” She fondly remembered the days when she personally took her children to school and picked them up, ensuring they were never left in the care of servants.
She also touched upon her long-standing relationship with Govinda, whom she has known for 40 years. Sunita recalled meeting him during his final year of BCom, saying, “At that time, we didn’t have an affair. I found him okayish. He was from Virar and I was from Pali Hill. Who would have thought that we would fall in love and get married?”
Sunita also fondly remembered how Govinda gifted her a Cadbury chocolate after finishing college, marking a special moment in their relationship. Initially, she admitted that she didn’t find him particularly attractive, as she was from Bandra, a more affluent area, while he was from Virar. “I used to look down on him due to my more sophisticated upbringing,” she confessed. However, when she met Govinda’s mother, who liked her immediately, things began to change. “His mother was getting old and wanted to see him married, as he was her youngest child. So, we tied the knot quickly. I got married at 18 and became a mother at 19,” Sunita shared. She further added that Govinda’s mother lived with them for 14 more years until her passing, and during that time, they never had any fights.
