Vikrant Massey is one of the most versatile talents in the current generation of Bollywood. His 2023 release 12th Fail proved his mettle as an actor, propelling him to global fame. As the actor celebrates his 37th birthday today, on April 3, here is a little anecdote shared by Vikrant himself, on how he got his first role.

A prominent television actor, Vikrant Massey expanded his talent to films with the 2013 release Lootera. His most recent release gained him significant acclaim from the audience as well as the critics. In an old media interaction, the actor recalled how he bagged his very first role outside of a washroom.

Appearing in an episode of Mashable’s The Bombay Journey, the actor revealed, “I was standing in the washroom queue in a Mumbai restaurant and this woman approached me and asked, Will you act?” Speaking further, he then went to their office, where they offered him Rs 6000 for every episode. They informed him that he would be shooting four episodes in a month, so he calculated the total amount, which came out to be Rs 24,000.

Vikrant Massey started his journey in acting with the show Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. Since then, he went on to appear in several successful television shows like Dharam Veer, Balika Vadhu, Gumrah, Qubool Hai and many more. In 2018, he appeared in a pivotal role in the acclaimed crime thriller Amazon Prime web series, Mirzapur. Furthermore, he has worked in web shows like Criminal Justice and Made In Heaven.

He ventured into Bollywood with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera. Later, he starred in films like Dil Dhadakne Do, Half Girlfriend, Lipstick Under My Burkha and more. His most notable recent work includes the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial, 12th Fail. He played the role of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, garnering praises for his performance.
