Jon Bernthal's Photo From Daredevil: Born Again Set Hints At His Return As Punisher

The fans of Marvel’s Punisher are yet to hear about the anti-hero’s return to the screen. However, now a fan’s photo with actor Jon Bernthal is creating a buzz on the internet with people speculating that he might be shooting the next Punisher miniseries in Brooklyn. On Saturday, a fan shared a selfie with Jon Bernthal in which the actor has fake blood over his face. The actor was also styled as Frank Castle. The fan took the photo at a Brooklyn restaurant called Hometown BBQ. While sharing the selfie, she wrote, “Thank you to Jon Bernthal for being awesome and taking a picture with me!”

Now Marvel fans are deeming this selfie as the evidence of Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle, also known as Punisher. It is speculated he will be seen in the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, which is set for release in 2025. Previously, Bernthal portrayed the Punisher in two Netflix series, Daredevil in 2016 and The Punisher which ran from 2017 to 2019. There has not been any official word about Bernthal reprising his role, either from Marvel Studios, Disney, or Bernthal himself.

Earlier this year, Bernthal spoke to Collider about how he sees the character of Punisher. The 47-year-old actor said, “In the hearts and minds of comic book fans and first responders and people in the military and people all over the globe. I think there’s a little bit of Frank Castle in everybody. He exists very strongly inside me and I care about that character deeply.”

He added the makers of the Punisher series have the responsibility of portraying the character as true to the comic books as possible. He said, “I also know that it’s absolutely essential that if we do it, we do it right and we have real sacred integrity to the source material and to what is at the core of Frank. I’m gonna do my absolute best to make sure that, if and when we do it, we do it right.”

It will be interesting to see when the makers decide to share the update on the next Punisher series or movie, as the fans are waiting with bated breath.
