The controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat refuses to die down. The Rajput Karni Sena has threatened that it will not allow Censor board chief Prasoon Joshi from participating from the Jaipur Literature Festival, which begins on January 25. The outfit also said that they will not allow Sanjay Leela Bhansali to shoot any future project in Rajasthan. The state governments that banned the movie are playing the ‘wait and watch game’ for now. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said his government has asked the state advocate general to study the Supreme Court order allowing the release of the Deepika Padukone starrer. He said the MP government will take a stand after going through the order. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a PIL to block the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Padmaavat. “We have to function as a constitutional court. Can’t block a movie from screening,” said a bench of the apex court. The PIL, filed by lawyer ML Sharma, question the Censor Board’s certificate to the film that also stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. He claimed there could be murders and arson if the film is released.Rejecting the argument, the SC said law and order was a job of the states. “Won’t re-hear the case. We have rejected even states’ objections and have decided that a ban isn’t permissible,” the court said.
