The wait is almost over for the fans of actor Jeremy Renner and the gripping crime thriller he stars in, Mayor of Kingstown. Just about a year and a half ago, the actor was left severely injured after his snowplow accident. At that time, many had doubts if he would ever return to the screen. However, Jeremy Renner is back and stronger than ever. He is making a much-awaited comeback with the third season of the hit Paramount+ series.
He reportedly resumed filming while he was still recovering. This upcoming season not only marks Renner’s return to the screen but also promises a more intense storyline that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
In the show, Renner portrays Mike McLusky, a man deeply involved in the dark and violent world of Kingstown. According to IMDB, “The McLusky family are power brokers tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry." Recently, Renner also shared a couple of photos on Instagram and gave fans a sneak peek of his character’s look for the upcoming season.

In the show, Mike McLusky initially stars as his older brother Mitch’s right-hand man. However, he has to take on the role of Mayor following Mitch’s death in the very first episode.
Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 debuted on Paramount+ on Sunday, June 2, 2024. While the total number of episodes for this season is not officially confirmed yet, it is expected to have 10 episodes, similar to the previous two seasons, reports Screenrant. Paramount+ will reportedly follow its usual weekly release schedule, allowing fans to watch a new episode every Sunday.
As for the protagonist Mike aka Renner, the third season brings a brutal drug war. He also faces the menace of the Russian mob. Adding to the tension is a series of explosions that will shake Kingstown and further complicate Mike’s life. As the pressure mounts, Mike resorts to drastic measures, as seen in the official trailer where he pushes a person off a roof.

The official synopsis for the upcoming season reads, “A series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky to end the war, but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions," reports Screenrant.
Apart from Jeremy Renner, who returns as Mike McLusky, the season will also star Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson, Tobi Bamtefa as Bunny, Taylor Handley as Kyle McLusky, Derek Webster as Stevie, Hamish Allan-Headley as Robert Sawyer, Nishi Munshi as Tracy McLusky and Michael Beach as Captain Kareem Moore.
