Ranbir Kapoor’s film Ramayana has hit a massive roadblock. If reports are to be believed, the filming of Ramayana has come to a standstill owing to the copyright infringement case. The alleged decision to bring the shoot to the halt has come less than two months since the filming began. Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and it stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram. Meanwhile, Sai Pallavi will be seen playing the role of Sita. It is reported that Yash is playing Ravana.
Speaking of the decision to halt the shoot, a source told Mid-Day, “Filming continued for a few days after the notice, but has been on hold since last week. The legalities need to be sorted out, and filming will only resume after a consensus is reached on the matter.” The insider added that the filming has just been put on a halt and that the film is not shelved. The shooting is expected to resume in three weeks.
What is the Ramyana’s copyright infringement case?
It is reported that Madhu Mantena was initially a part of the production team of Ramayana. However, he exited the project a while after. Although he is no longer a part of the team, a few legalities and compensations are yet to be cleared. Mantena has requested to put the filming on hold until the compensation is not ironed out.
Ramayana’s new schedule to clash with Love and War?
Given the halt, there are chances that the filming dates of the stars working on Ramayana are also going to be delayed. Ranbir has already dedicated his time later this year to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Love and War whereas Sunny Deol has Border 2 scheduled to film later this year. If there is a mix up in scheduling, there are chances that the other projects will also take a hit.
A source tells News18 Showsha last week, “Ranbir will continue shooting for Ramayana and begin the prep for Love And War in the second half of August or early September simultaneously. While Alia will get busy with filming YRF’s upcoming spy thriller with Sharvari Wagh, Ranbir will dive into script reading sessions and discussions with Bhansali before beginning its shoot. Bhansali, in fact, will begin Love And War with him as the latter may reach the conclusion of the shoot of the first part of the Ramayana trilogy by November.”
The source adds, “The shoot of Love And War will begin in Mumbai but a set for the same is yet to be constructed. The film will have some elaborate song sequences and for the same, Bhansali is personally still in discussions with his production design team. As for Vicky, when he will join the shoot still remains unclear.”
