Deadpool & Wolverine is just a few months away, which means that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will resume their years-long trash-talking. The name-calling among the film’s actors began long before Jackman’s return to the role of Wolverine was ever considered. Reynolds has gone out swinging with a fresh playful jab at his best friend before the premiere of their upcoming MCU film, which will also include the same peculiar characteristics.
Having brought the character’s journey to an appropriate close in 2017’s Logan, Jackman announced his retirement from the role. Deadpool & Wolverine altered the original plans, allowing Jackman to play the same character again but in a different version.
Speaking with AP Entertainment on Jackman’s comeback as Wolverine, Reynolds made jokes about his co-star, calling him a “liar,” but he also hinted at the humorous manner the character makes a comeback in the upcoming film.
AP Entertainment recently contacted Reynolds at IF’s Monday night New York City Premiere, asking for information on how he persuaded Jackman to sign up for Deadpool & Wolverine. Taking a jab at his co-star, Reynolds said that it is now well-known that “Hugh is a liar”.
Reynolds continued, staying loyal to his clever repartee, calling Jackman “a bald-faced, horrible coward, and a liar” for having lied to his fans.
“Now, I think, I think we all can see that Hugh is a liar, you know? That a bald-faced horrible coward and a liar. Uh, here he is, back again back again. You know, you have to find out how he comes back because that’s one of the most fun aspects of the movie.”

Although a lot of fans are excited about Deadpool & Wolverine because of Jackman’s comeback as Wolverine, not everyone agreed that it was a good idea for him to return.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige was one of many who opposed Jackman’s decision to possibly derail his perfect finale in Logan. “I said, ‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh: ‘Don’t come back. You had the greatest ending in history with Logan’ That’s not something we should undo,” Feige told Empire.
Jackman told the Empire that he had suddenly decided he wanted to go back, having no idea what to do. He said he had called Reynolds right once and said, “If you’ll have me, I’m in.” According to Jackman, this moment was important and Shawn Levy stated that the narrative “completely changed” from then.
Jackman claims that this new Wolverine will not be the same as the ones that X-Men fans are accustomed to and the concept for a modernised Wolverine came to him while on a long road trip.
Additionally, based on the trailer, it appears that a different Logan from the one that starred in the 20th Century Fox popular series will appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. Deadpool & Wolverine hits theatres on July 26.
