Sunidhi Chauhan Reveals Not Getting Money For Many Film Songs: ‘I Choose Not To…’
Singer Sunidhi Chauhan recently revealed about unpaid work & lobbying in Bollywood.

Sunidhi Chauhan is one of the most loved singers in Bollywood. In a new interview, the actress recently opened up about her journey, and also revealed instances when she wasn’t paid for her work and had also experienced lobbying.

In a shocking revelation, Sunidhi Chauhan confessed on Raj Shamani’s podcast that she was not compensated for some of her most iconic and acclaimed performances, despite being one of the most sought-after and highest-paid singers in the industry.

Raj Shamani shed light on a shocking practice in Bollywood, where singers are made to record multiple versions of a song, and only the chosen one gets compensated, while the rest are left empty-handed. He asked Sunidhi Chauhan if payment issues are prevalent in the industry, to which she replied, confirming that unpaid work is a widespread phenomenon for singers.

However, Sunidhi Chauhan clarified that established singers like herself have the leverage to demand payment for their work. She emphasized that, in general, singers have the autonomy to either request payment upfront or opt for a post-recording settlement, creating a mutual understanding that absolves either party of blame.

Sunidhi then revealed, “I haven’t got money for many movies, even today they don’t give me. They ask and I choose not to take it because I feel for this song I don’t need money. At some places I would like to help so I say my price and I sing the song. You don’t want to hurt anybody’s ego because everyone does not think like you. They might also not understand how you feel.”

When asked about Sonu Nigam’s controversial remark on Bollywood’s alleged mafia control, nd ‘kuch hi log hain, kuch hi logo ko aage badhayenge?'”. Chauhan admitted to the same and said that lobbying exists everywhere be it award functions, music, films, or reality shows.  “It’s something you cannot avoid. You do your work, and if you want to get involved, do it to fix things,” she added.
