The Boys 3 Recap: Key Points To Remember Before Watching Season 4
Before you start binging on the new season, here's a rundown of what happened by the end of the third season.

The much-awaited season 4 of the hit superhero satire The Boys is finally here! Releasing today, on June 13, 2024, with 3 episodes on Prime Video, this new season is expected to introduce new Supes, intense violence and the return of one of the most terrifying villains we have seen. The third season of the series has already given us a number of cliffhangers and suspense-worthy moments that we desperately need closures for. Apart from its previous season that aired in 2022, another spin-off series, titled Gen V also connected some of the dots and gave the franchise fans more reasons to look forward to The Boys season 4.

Before you start binging on the new season, here’s a rundown of what happened by the end of the third season:

Homelander’s unchecked power

Homelander seemed pretty dangerous ever since its introduction in the drama series. During the first two seasons, he tries to maintain a heroic image. However, in Season 3, he abandons this pretence. Starlight exposed him in Episodes 6 and 8 and Homelander tried to spread conspiracies about her in revenge. He also learns that Soldier Boy is his father which makes him angrier. By the end of the 3rd season, he persuades his son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) to join him. In the final scene, Ryan’s smile also hints that he might be willing to follow his father’s destructive path in season 4.

Victoria Neuman’s Rise

Season 2 introduced Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), a young politician against Vought. By season 3, she became a key antagonist with head-popping powers. In episode 7, she offered to help Homelander find Ryan in exchange for killing her rival. Her daughter Zoe (Olivia Morandin) has been injected with Compound V and is expected to have a bigger role in season 4. The new trailer also shows Zoe with tentacles coming from her mouth.

Major injuries & deaths

By the end of season 3, Black Noir gets killed by Homelander. However, despite his death, Black Noir can be spotted in the season 4 teaser trailer. Queen Maeve has already sacrificed herself to save New York City from Soldier Boy’s blast, but she survives, losing her powers and an eye. Her survival also makes it probable that she will return in this season. Meanwhile, Soldier Boy is put back into cryogenic slumber, guarded by Grace Mallory (Laila Robins). It also hints at a future comeback.

New members and crossovers

The Seven now has Homelander, A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and The Deep (Chace Crawford). Season 4 introduces new members Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry). Sister Sage, the first Black woman in The Seven, has superhuman intelligence.

The season 4 trailer also shows characters from spin-off Gen V, especially Cate Dunlap and Sam Riordan (Asa Germann). Cate controls others by touch and Sam has super strength and durability.

Butcher’s health crisis

In the season 3 finale, Butcher got to know that Temp V is damaging his brain. It has left him only with about 12-18 months to live. He still continues using Temp V to fight Homelander and his condition is still hidden from The Boys.

Starlight Joins the Boys

Starlight tried to reform Vought from within, became a double agent and eventually left The Seven in Season 3. After exposing Homelander and Vought, she and Hughie reconciled by the season’s end. She has also gained acceptance into the group and has officially joined The Boys.
