Vidya Balan Cheers For Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Tabu's Crew: 'Not All Macho Films Are...'
Vidya Balan praised Tabu, Kriti Sanon and Kareena Kapoor's Crew and expressed her happiness on its box office run.

Vidya Balan recently expressed her admiration for the film ‘Crew’, featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon. The comedy film has been making waves at the box office. She highlighted how the movie, led by three women, shattered the notion that only action-packed macho films can be commercially successful.

During the inaugural session of Expresso on Friday, Vidya emphasized the importance of refreshing storytelling and praised the light-hearted approach of ‘Crew’. She commended the success of a film that showcases women in leading roles, especially considering the age of the leading actresses, “Not all macho blockbusters are doing well. I think we need to remember that and here’s a film that had three women lead it, and it was so much fun. They were’nt taking themselves too seriously, and it thrills me that a film with three women – and at the age that they are at, is doing so well,” she expressed.

Regarding the evolving perception of female-led films in the industry, Vidya noted the positive changes taking place. She expressed optimism about the current climate in the industry, which signals promising opportunities for women-centric narratives. She explained, “It’s actually changing a lot. We are experiencing that change as its happening. It is a wonderful time. I was a little worried after the pandemic because people were a bit conservative about women-led films and all that, but obviously, it is a better time now.”

On the work front, Vidya Balan’s upcoming film Do Aur Do Pyaar is a humorous yet insightful exploration of human relationships, focusing on themes such as compatibility and fidelity within contemporary marriages. The film also stars Pratik Gandhi, Illeana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy in key roles. Following Neeyat in 2023, this marks Vidya’s first film for 2024.

Additionally, Vidya will appear in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, cast alongside Kartik Aaryan and Tripti Dimri. Sharing a glimpse from the first day of shooting, Vidya expressed her excitement: “Super thrilled to begin this eerie yet funny adventure of #BhoolBhulaiyaa3 with the incredibly talented @kartikaaryan and @tripti_dimri, the visionary @aneesbazmee, and the driving force behind it all #BhushanKumar! Eagerly awaiting #Diwali2024.”

The trailer opens with introducing the main characters of the film. As the video proceeds further we get to see their life and its hardships. But there is a catch. The trailer is a refreshing love story. The film seems to be a perfect rom-com for the summer. Complemented by a stellar line-up of renowned artists like Lucky Ali, Armaan Malik, The Local Train, Lost Stories, and Ananya Birla, the soundtrack of the film is anticipated to be a treat for the ears.
