In a shocking development, veteran actor Vijay Raaz has been removed from the upcoming comedy sequel Son of Sardaar 2. The decision reportedly stems from allegations of unprofessional behaviour on the set, as well as disturbing claims involving his spot boy. The film, currently being shot in London, boasts an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Deepak Dobriyal, Chunky Panday, and Mrunal Thakur.
Sanjay Mishra has now stepped in to replace Vijay Raaz in the film. “The role will now be played by Sanjay Mishra,” co-producer Kumar Mangat Pathak confirmed to Pinkvilla. Mangat cited Raaz’s conduct on set as the primary reason for his dismissal but also acknowledged an alarming incident involving Raaz’s spot boy, who allegedly sexually assaulted a hotel staff member while intoxicated.
Addressing these serious allegations, Vijay Raaz sought to distance himself from the actions of his staff. “These are two different stories, and there is a difference of at least 10 hours between the two incidents. I was removed from the film on August 4 at 2 PM, and the episode at the hotel took place at 11 PM that night. Don’t try to mix the two. I have nothing to do with it, but I don’t encourage such behavior. I am no longer working with the spot boy,” Raaz clarified.
The actor further claimed that his removal was not due to misconduct but rather because he failed to greet Ajay Devgn upon arriving on set. “I reached the location ahead of schedule for a trial. Ajay Devgn was busy, so I didn’t greet him immediately and instead chatted with some friends. Thirty minutes later, Mr. Kumar Mangat came to me and said, ‘Aap film se nikal jaaye, hum aapko nikal rahe hai.’ The only misconduct from my end was that I didn’t greet Mr. Ajay Devgn. I was removed within 30 minutes of arriving on set.”
Kumar Mangat, however, disputed Raaz’s version of events and addressed the sexual harassment complaint. “His staff is his responsibility. Imagine working with such a demon in the team. We received an official email from the hotel, and strict action will be taken against all offenders. As I said, we are happy to disassociate with Vijay Raaz and do not wish to work with such a person.”
With the controversy surrounding Vijay Raaz, the production continues as planned, with Sanjay Mishra taking over the role and filming progressing in London.
