Tamill actor Vikram opened up about his bond with Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. The actor, who has worked with Aishwarya in two films, said she and Abhishek are close friends. He also opened up about their much-loved on-screen chemistry and poked fun that their love on-screen been ‘unrequited.’ Vikram was referring to Raavan and Ponniyin Selvan.
Speaking with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel, Vikram said, “Abhishek is a very close friend of mine so automatically, the family becomes friends too. The thing is, Aishwarya and I, we have very good on-screen chemistry, like whether it was Raavan or whether it was Ponniyin Selvan and both were unrequited love, both were somebody else’s wife, I get killed in both.”
The actor added that he had once told Mani Ratnam that the director should give Vikram and Aishwarya’s characters a happy ending in at least one film. “I told Mani sir, ‘Please one film, let’s get together, at least for the fans’. I think she is a fantastic actor to work with. She is very committed, perfectionist and we are very good friends but Abhishek is like very, very close friend,” he said.
Vikram had previously called Aishwarya a good friend. “On the Internet it’s crazy because you see a lot of fans saying ‘Oh my god we need to see these two together. Why are they never… some guy give them a film where they fall in love with each other or they end up being happily married or whatever,'” he told NDTV.
“Fans like to see visuals of us which I think Mani Ratnam sir played to his advantage. In the first part, I only see her in one scene. You don’t know how many scenes I am going to see her in second part. But that one scene was enough to evoke so much love, romance and pain in the viewer, and I think that will happen even in the second half,” Vikram told NDTV.
Aishwarya was last seen in Ponniyin Selvan 2, which released in 2023. She has not announced her next film since.
