Indrajit Lankesh’s upcoming Kannada movie Gowri has piqued the interest of fans ever since it was announced. The movie was announced in 2022 by Lankesh who also announced that he would be launching his son Samarjit Lankesh through the film. Saanya Iyer joined the film as Samarjit’s leading lady.
Saanya Iyer in February told the News18 team that Gowri had finished filming and editing with post-production work underway. And it looks like while the post-production team is busy with the editing, they have also got some time to tease fans with some behind-the-scenes footage from the film.
The makers of Gowri recently released a behind-the-scenes clip from a romantic song from the film featuring Samarjit and Saanya Iyer. The clip features beautiful picturesque shots of a waterfall and the lead couple at the foot of the waterfall.
Samarjit appears to be lip-syncing to a song while beckoning to Saanya while the actress smiles calmly seated on a rock. We also get to see a few shots of Samarjit’s well-sculpted and toned physique as he goes shirtless for the camera. The behind-the-scenes video is proof enough that Indrajit Lankesh is going to provide us with a visual treat as far as locales are concerned.
The name of the project was initially announced to be Gauri with the director saying that it would be based on true incidents. This led to speculations that the film would be based around the killing of Indrajit’s sister and social activist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead in 2017 by fundamentalists. However, no official statement regarding the same was issued by the makers and instead, the name was changed to Gowri, probably to put these speculations to rest.
The poster of the film hinted at a blend of action, romance, and other themes, with the creators describing it as ‘message-oriented.’ Samarjit Lankesh, making his debut, will be portraying a rugged action persona. Gowri claims to be inspired by a true incident.
