When Abhishek Bachchan Said 'Uday Chopra, I Are Dhoom' Amid Dhoom 4 Replacement Buzz: 'Others May...'
Abhishek Bachchan said that as per the film's format, the story follows the lives of his and Uday Chopra's characters.

Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra won hearts after they starred as Jai and Ali in the Dhoom with John Abraham, Rimi Sen and Esha Chopra. They returned for the second instalment of the film with Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan; and for Dhoom 3 with Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif. However, after three successful films, there was buzz that Abhishek would not be approached for Dhoom 4. Reports claimed that Shah Rukh Khan or Ranbir Kapoor will headline the next instalment. However, there is no confirmation on this yet.

In an earlier conversation with Times Now, Abhishek addressed claims of not being approached for Dhoom 4 and said, “Pardon the immodesty, but Uday Chopra and I are Dhoom. The franchise chronicles the ongoing adventures of Jai and Ali, that’s me and Uday. That’s the format of the franchise. The other characters may come and go. But we go on forever. Like Batman and Robin. Can there be a ‘Batman’ franchise without Batman?”

“From Dhoom to Dhoom 2 and Dhoom 3, it has been an amazing journey. To begin with, it was the story of the adventures of these three boys, me, Uday, and John Abraham. Our producer Aditya Chopra suggested we try to re-define the action genre in our cinema. We were all young, hopeful and enthusiastic, eager to try out this experiment. How were we to know it would turn out the way it did,” he added.

Abhishek recalled the fun he had while filming Dhoom and said, “I hope the audience had as much fun watching it as we had making it. When you put Uday, John, Esha, Rimi, and me on the same set there’s bound to be a whole lotta dhoom. It’s a pleasure to work with them. Uday is a very very old friend of mine. We’ve virtually grown up together. We’ve helped each other whenever required. It was wonderful to finally face the camera with him. There isn’t a dull moment when he’s around. He loves to improvise, so shooting was always fun.”

“John Abraham has been a revelation. When you see his physicality it’s very easy to form an opinion on him. Far from being brawny and intimidating, he’s gentle soft-spoken, and caring. I’ve worked with Esha Deol before in LOC. She’s opposite Uday, so we hardly met. But Rimi Sen who’s my co-star was a giggle expert. Each time she was around she’d make us smile with her giggles. The whole team was very young and enthusiastic. And we jelled perfectly. And I hope that chemistry shows in Dhoom,” he concluded.

Dhoom was released on August 27, 2004. The film has now clocked 20 years and remains close to fans’ hearts.
