Veteran Bollywood actor Raaj Kumar acted in around 70 films in his career spanning over four decades. He was considered to be one of the most successful actors in Indian cinema. This was the reason why many had to think twice before collaborating with him. Even South star Rajinikanth turned down the offer of the film Tiranga when he came to know that the film was directed by Raaj Kumar. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan also reportedly fell victim to Raaj Kumar’s arrogance once. According to a news report, Raj Kapoor organised a party where many stars of the industry had come. Along with Raaj Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan also attended this party.
Amitabh Bachchan came to the party in a suit and boots and everyone who met him praised him highly. Raaj Kumar noticed all this and he went to Amitabh and said, “Jaani, I like your suit”. Amitabh was overjoyed on hearing this, and immediately told him the name of the shop, then he asked Raaj Kumar if he wanted a suit stitched there? The answer given by Raaj Kumar to this question stunned Amitabh Bachchan. Raaj Kumar said to Amitabh Bachchan, “I want to get some curtains stitched for my house and I like the fabric of your suit.” It is said that when Amitabh Bachchan heard this, he left without saying a word.
Raaj Kumar had a different status in Bollywood, as he had worked as a police officer before joining films and it is said he developed a little arrogance because of this. He believed in speaking straight without sugarcoating things.
