Garnering eight nominations in the ceremony, Jimin claimed the title of Best Male Artist at MAMA 2023.

The Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2023) concluded on a high note at Japan’s Tokyo Dome on November 29. Over a span of two days, the most popular K-pop boy band BTS, currently on hiatus due to mandatory military service, took home multiple prestigious tributes, including the Worldwide Icon of the Year award. While no BTS member could attend the ceremony, Jimin ensured the group’s message reached their dedicated ARMYs. Garnering eight nominations in the ceremony, he claimed the title of Best Male Artist. Park Ji-min shared a message on Weverse to fans for their constant love and support.

After winning the award, the South Korean singer and dancer took to social media and promised to return with better music. The note, which was shared in Korean, reads, “We received so many valuable awards today. Thank you very much to the ARMYs who always support and love us. We will do our best to show you better music and performances. Thank you again and I love you.”

Apart from securing the title of Best Male Artist, BTS member Jimin made an impressive mark with multiple nominations at the MAMA 2023 awards. His album, Face, garnered recognition in the Album of the Year category, while his tracks Like Crazy and VIBE competed for Song of the Year and Best Dance Performance Male Solo, respectively. On the other hand, his group won several awards across various categories, including the Worldwide Icon of the Year (Daesang) and Worldwide Fan’s Choice. Additionally, BTS claimed Best OST award for The Planet, Best Rap/Hip-Hop for People Part 2 by Agust D, Best Male Solo Dance Performance for Seven by Jungkook and the Best Collaboration for Seven featuring Latto.

Meanwhile, the singer is set to kick start his mandatory South Korean military service, as revealed by his agency, Big Hit. Along with Jimin, RM, V and Jungkook have also started their enlistment procedures. The label issued a statement and informed, “We would like to inform our fans that RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook have started the process for military enlistment. The artists are getting ready to fulfill their duties for military service. Further updates will be shared in due time.”

The popular group is expected to reunite in 2025. As BTS members temporarily disband for their mandatory service, ARMYs will have a chance to get a glimpse into the group’s life in a docu-series titled BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star. Scheduled for a worldwide premiere on December 20 on Disney Plus, the series promises to provide an in-depth look into the journey of BTS.
