Ryan Gosling shared why he hasn't allowed his kids to watch the Barbie movie, shedding light on the decision made with support of his partner, Eva Mendes.

Over the years, Ryan Gosling has showcased his acting skills across various genres, but it’s his performance of Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie that has garnered exceptional praise. Fans can’t help but express their admiration for the actor’s standout performance. Recently, the actor was honoured with the 2024 Critics Choice Award in Best Song category for his song I’m Just Ken. Surprisingly, his own daughters, Esmerelda and Amada, are yet to witness their father’s ken-ergetic performance in the Margot Robbie Starrer. In a recent interview with ENews, the 43-year-old actor shared why he hasn’t allowed his kids to watch the movie, shedding light on the decision made with the support of his longtime partner, Eva Mendes.

While attending the 2024 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Ryan said “I don’t know if you should watch your father as Ken. I don’t know what age is a good age to see your father do that. It gets pretty crazy.” Although Ryan’s daughters haven’t watched his movie, the actor shared that his daughters had the opportunity to witness behind the scenes drama when they visited the sets. He mentioned, “They’ve seen little parts of it and they came to set one day when I did a big musical number.”

Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling credited his daughters, Esmerelda and Amada along with partner Eva Mendes for inspiring him to take the role of Ken in the Barbie movie. Gosling shared, “I knew that they loved it because they kept saying at first, ‘Hey, can we go to Target?’ And we go to Target, and then they’d slowly go by the Barbie aisle. And my wife and I sort of realized, ‘OK, I think it’s time to let them have Barbies.’ And no interest in Ken, which was pretty interesting, too.” Gosling saw his involvement in the movie as a way to create something meaningful for his daughters.

Ryan also expressed a desire to collaborate with his partner, Eva Mendes, once again on screen. The two previously collaborated in the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines, Gosling shared that it was the greatest experience he had making a film.

Ryan Gosling was on the news recently after his reaction to winning the Best Song award at the 2024 Critics Choice Award for his Barbie movie song I’m Just Ken has captured attention. As presenters announced the song as the winner, cameras captured Gosling looking stunned, raising his eyebrows, and standing up. He jokingly shook his head in disbelief as the song’s writers, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, took the stage to accept the award.

The Barbie movie, featuring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, received an impressive 18 nominations at the Critics Choice Award ceremony.
