India clinched a spot in the World Cup 2023 finals with a commanding victory against New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer’s centuries, coupled with Shubman Gill’s impressive 80 and Rohit Sharma’s crucial opening contribution, dominated the game. Mohammed Shami’s exceptional performance with seven wickets also played a pivotal role in securing the triumph. Following the win, Bollywood icons celebrated the team’s success with congratulatory messages. Notably, Suniel Shetty’s X post gained attention as he hailed Rohit Sharma as “Captain Marvelous.”
Sharing a picture of Rohit Sharma, the actor wrote, “Virat Kohli will continue to shatter records. Shreyas Iyer will grab the headlines. But my captain Rohit Sharma is THE Man of the Moment. He sets the match ablaze with his selfless knocks, setting up a stage for the entire team to shine. No milestones, just team glory. Ye Captain nahi, Captain Marvelous hai. 10 wins on the trot, one win away from being world champions.”

Other than Suniel Shetty, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, Anupam Kher, and Riteish Deshmukh among others congratulated Team India for winning the most crucial World Cup 2023 match.
On the day of the match, Suniel Shetty declared himself a fan of the cricketer and his son-in-law, KL Rahul. After a period of struggle last year, KL Rahul made a remarkable comeback in September during the Asia Cup and earned everyone’s respect with his performance.
In a conversation with Indian Express, the actor said, “Good deeds never go unnoticed, even if you try everything to run a person down. He has that fire, commitment, discipline and consistency. And above all, he has a large heart which is always ready to give. I always tell my children it’s the art of giving that teaches you the art of living. As for Rahul, I have been a fan since he was a cricketer, and today, when he’s a son, not even my son-in-law, I still am a fan.”
In the semi-final, New Zealand exhibited determination and posed a formidable challenge to Team India during the middle overs. The partnership of 181 runs between Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell captivated cricket enthusiasts and created tension. While a victory for New Zealand would have marked the second-highest run chase in ODIs, the outstanding performance by Indian bowlers, especially Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, kept the opposition struggling to accumulate runs.
