With India two runs away from a win over Bangladesh in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match in Pune on Friday, Bangladesh spinner Nasum Ahmed fired the first delivery of the 42nd over down the leg-side.
Virat Kohli, who was batting on 97, was left annoyed with the delivery as he left it alone. The umpire Richard Kettleborough didn’t signal it as wide though and the decision hasn’t gone down well with several users on social media.

Nasum bowled another dot delivery to Kohli before the latter completed his century and sealed India’s comfortable win with a six off the following delivery.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 103 of 96 starring with the bat in India’s seven-wicket win over Bangladesh, their fourth win in a row of the ongoing world cup.
“The pitch was pretty good and it allowed me to play my game – just time the ball, hit the gaps, run hard and get the boundaries whenever needed,” Kohli said after the match.
India had kept Bangladesh to 256/8 in 50 overs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Opener Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan hit half-centuries as they gave their team a rock solid start before India hit back with regular blows.
Handy innings from Mahmudullah (48) and Mushfiqur (38) pushed them to a decent total but on a pitch that was batting friendly, the total wasn’t going to be challenging enough.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill led a superb start for India in the chase with the pair adding 88 runs before being separated.
Rohit fell short of his fifty by two runs but Gill went on to score his maiden world cup fifty.
Kohli and Shreyas Iyer then took India closer before the latter holed out on 19.
Kohli and KL Rahul (34*) then took India over the line.
India next take on New Zealand on Saturday in Dharamshala.
