On September 19, HDFC Bank announced that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has granted approval for the re-appointment of Sashidhar Jagdishan as the managing director and chief executive officer of the bank.
The bank has stated that Sashidhar Jagdishan’s re-appointment will be valid for three years, commencing from October 27, 2023, to October 26, 2026. Furthermore, the bank has indicated that a Board of Directors meeting will be scheduled in the near future to formalise this re-appointment.
The RBI had first approved the appointment of Jagdishan as CEO of HDFC Bank for a period of three years from October 27, 2020, when he took the charge from Aditya Puri.
Jagdishan joined the Bank in 1996 as a manager in the finance department and became business head – finance in 1999 and was later appointed as chief dinancial officer in 2008, Moneycontrol reported.
Prior to his appointment as MD & CEO of the Bank, Jagdishan was the group head of the bank in addition to overseeing the functions of finance, human resources, legal and secretarial, administration, infrastructure, corporate communications and corporate social responsibility.
Sashidhar Jagdishan Salary
Jagdishan took home an annual package of Rs 10.5 crore in the financial year 2022-2023, according to the annual report of the bank. In FY22, Jagdishan had earned an annual salary of Rs 6.51 crore.
