Following the announcement of the SSC CGL examination results by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), candidates who appeared for the exams are demanding the commission to revise the tier I results. Aspirants have raised concerns, citing that fewer students qualified for the main exam as compared to previous years. They also claimed that, despite the increased number of openings, the commission only summoned a smaller number of applicants.
It is to be noted that, as per the academic calendar, the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2023 (Tier-I) was conducted from July 14 to 27 at various centres across India. The result for the same was announced on September 20. Based on marks scored in the Tier-I examination, a total of 81,752 candidates have been shortlisted for the Tier-II examination.
As per the SSC CGL (Tier-I) result, nearly 71,112 students qualified for the Tier-II 2023. Expressing disappointment over the results aspirants took to the microblogging site X (formally Twitter) stating that for the SSC CGL tier 2 exam 2023, only 8.4 times of the number of vacancies have been selected.
A user expressed, “SSC should have been consistent with the number of candidates selected. Many candidates are brilliant they just didn’t think that the cut-off for a stage, qualifying in nature, would spike up like this. @DoPTGoI @narendramodi.”

“Every time we can see there is a difference in the number of times of vacancies. The candidates are qualifying for SSC CGLE Tier-1 with all-time low in 2023. Why is this? Why no fixed rule,” an aspirant questioned.

Sharing the stats of the last couple of years of SSC CGL Tier-I results, an X user writes, “I cleared last three years SSC CGL prelims and for some 1.5 marks, I lost my chance in last list and failed in this prelim (tier 1) what can I do now next year will be my last chance.”

Echoing similar concerns, other aspirants also took to X and demanded a revised result. A user wrote, “The SSC’s decision to shortlist only 8.4 per cent of the candidates for the mains exam is unfair and unjust. It’s totally wrong.” “How can SSC be so cruel by calling just 8.4 times candidates for the mains examination? It is just intolerable. We want 15 times result. We want revised result,” a comment read.
