Election Commission has published the revised electoral rolls for UP polls on Monday, after a delay of 12 days.

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) has finally published the revised electoral rolls for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls on Monday, after a delay of 12 days.

The publication of rolls of 42 out of 70 districts in the state have been completed, though it will take almost one month more to post the same on EC's official website.

According to a report in UNI, the electoral rolls had to be revised and republished as there were scores of irregularities. EC had sent 21 Central observers in November and then again in January to find and rectify these before the new electoral rolls were finally published.

CEC N Gopalaswamy along with two Election Commissioners Navin B Chawla and Dr S Y Qureshi visited UP last month after the observers submitted their report.

Over 114.4 million electorate would now exercise their franchise after the deletion of over 3 million bogus voters during scrutiny.

Of the total voters, over 1.7 million voters would be exercising their franchise for the first time.
