Chennai: Actor Vijayakant-led DMDK has announced that its focus for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections would be anti-corruption. The party also announced plans for its meet on February 2 where the anti-corruption plank will be fleshed out and the party will declare its alliance with other political parties.

Asked whether the anti-corruption plank was chosen after the success of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, the DMDK leaders said that their party leader Vijayakant had started the party in 2005 to eradicate corruption in the state. The DMDK is currently the principal opposition party in the Tamil Nadu assembly.

The party also fielded candidates in the Delhi elections in Tamil dominated areas, but lost miserably. Its candidates failed to secure even 500 votes in their constituencies.

The DMDK is being wooed by DMK, the Congress and the BJP.
