BJP Either Complicit in Attacks on Kejriwal or Simply Incompetent: AAP

New Delhi: A day after a man was caught with live ammunition at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has lashed out at the ruling BJP at the Centre and alleged that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were either complicit in the attacks on the Delhi CM or were incompetent to stop them, since Delhi Police are under their purview.

“The CM holds a durbar to meet ordinary people. Yesterday, a man came to meet him and he was caught with a live cartridge. We appeal to the Centre to stop petty politics. There are only two reasons why the CM is being attacked. Either the PM, who controls Delhi Police, is behind the attacks himself or he is so incompetent. Such a PM cannot even secure a CM, let alone ensuring the safety of the people,” AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said on Tuesday.

AAP leader Raghav Chadha said this was the third such attack on the CM in the last month and in all these cases, Delhi Police has failed to act. “The first one was on the Signature Bridge, where (Delhi BJP chief) Manoj Tiwari reached with his goons. There was no action against the goons, but an FIR was lodged against the CM. The second attack happened in the Secretariat, where I, too, was a witness. The CM left from his own office and a man attacks his face, breaks his glasses and throws chili powder at him. And yesterday, all limits were crossed. At the CM’s residence, a man with live cartridges was caught in the CM’s house.”

He further added that every attack had some connection or the other to the BJP. “Every attacker is, in some way or the other, linked to the BJP. We have never heard of any attacks on any BJP CM. Why is the Delhi CM the only one being attacked? We believe BJP wants to kill Arvind Kejriwal. This is not an attack on a person, but on the elected CM of the people. This is an attack on the people of Delhi.”

Chadha even lashed out at Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and said, “There have been three attacks on the CM and there has not been a single statement from the LG, who calls himself the Mukhiya (head) of Delhi.”
