CBI seeks detention of Andhra Congress MP accused in a US scam
Congress MP KVP Ramachandra Rao is accused of taking a bribe of 18 million dollars from a US firm for titanium mining.

New Delhi: The CBI has written to the Crime Branch asking them to detain Andhra Pradesh Congress MP KVP Ramachandra Rao who is accused of taking a bribe of 18 million dollars from a US firm for titanium mining. The Crime Branch has forwarded the application to New Delhi District and has asked them to arrest Rao.

A US court has already ordered his arrest and even asked Washington to get him extradited to the country.

Rao, popularly known as KVP in political circles, was a close friend of the late Andhra Pradesh chief minister Dr. YS Rajashekhara Reddy. He fell out with Rajashekhara's son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy after deciding to stay with the Congress.

KVP was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state in February 2013.

The Interpol has already issued a red alert notice against him.
