Chennai: Finance Minister P Chidambaram took a dig at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa saying that she has realised her limits and was not after prime ministership.
While addressing a rally at Chennai, Chidambaram said, "I'm glad she has toned down. From saying I want to be prime minister, she now says she will be part of the government at Centre. I congratulate her. Everyone should know their limits."
Chidambaram also said that the Congress will contest the polls alone in the state. The DMK, once a Congress ally had said that the party will not form an alliance with the Congress.
He once again reached out to the DMK saying, "I request Karunanidhi to announce that DMK will not support a BJP government at the Centre."
The remarks came after DMK chief M Karunanidhi called BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi a good friend.
He also added that he was worried about the state and not about the party.
