AICC SC cell chief says Alwar (rural) ticket was sold to Tikaram Juli for Rs 2.5 crore.

New Delhi: The investigations into the Malegaon bomb blast case gave Congress a golden chance to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party's terror agenda but the party is busy putting its own house in order.

The last few days have seen party leaders levelling allegations of tickets being sold for the Assembly elections.

The All India Congress Committee Scheduled Caste cell chief Yogendra Makwana has come out with a startling new allegation. Makwana has claimed that the Alwar (rural) Assembly ticket in Rajasthan was sold to Tikaram Juli for Rs 2.5 crore.

He also alleges that at least two women aspirants were asked to pay money for party tickets.

He reveals that Sushila Bunkar was asked to pay Rs 40 lakh to contest and Mamta Kaichi was asked to pay Rs 80 lakh for Baran-Atru SC seat.

"A woman came to me and complained that she was asked to pay Rs 80 lakh for a ticket. Another woman from Alwar said she was asked to pay Rs 40 lakh. So it seems there is something wrong," alleged Makwana.

However, he refused to spell out his future course of action and said he would wait and watch till November 15.

Makwana's allegations come just days after senior Congress leader Margaret Alva alleged that party tickets were sold during the Karnataka polls.

Alva on Tuesday resigned as Congress General Secretary after meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi a day earlier to explain her outburst.

Sonia is likely to accept Alva's resignation. Sonia is believed to have expressed her displeasure over Alva's public airing of her grievances.

The matter has already been referred to the party's Disciplinary Action Committee.
