Grand alliance planning reduction in OBC quota, says Sushil Modi
The leader said the grand alliance is hatching a conspiracy to take away five per cent reservation quota of the OBCs and give it to minorities to further its votebank politics.

Patna: BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday alleged that the grand secular alliance was hatching a conspiracy to take away five per cent reservation quota of the OBCs and give it to minorities to further its votebank politics. "The grand alliance is hatching a conspiracy to take away five per cent reservation quota of the OBCs and give it to minorities to further its votebank politics.

"Congress governments in a number of states have already tinkered with 27 per cent quota for OBCs and SC/STs and given it to the minorities ... The secular alliance is also conspiring to do the same in Bihar against which the dalits and OBCs should stay guard during the assembly polls," he said in a statement.

There is no provision in the Constitution to provide reservations on religious grounds and Supreme Court has fixed quota limit to 50 per cent, Sushil Modi said adding BJP will foil the political conspiracy being hatched by the secular alliance in Bihar to tinker with the quota system to accommodate minorities to further its vote bank politics for electoral dividends at the hustings.

The former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar also asked dalits and backward communities to stay guard against the designs of the secular alliance. Congress, a constituent of the secular alliance, has given five per cent reservation for minorities in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, he said and claimed that the dalits and OBCs will stand by NDA in the third and subsequent phases of the assembly poll so that their reservation quota remains intact.

Sushil Modi also attacked the grand alliance for being antagonistic towards the 'Teli' caste, an extremely backward caste in Bihar, due to their dislike for the prime minister, who belongs to this caste. The alliance comprising RJD, JD(U) and Congress has not given a single ticket to the 'Telis' in Bihar assembly polls in comparison to nine seats given to the castemen by BJP, he added.
