New Delhi: A day after the Centre cleared reservations for Jats in government jobs, Rajasthan Gujjar leader Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla warned that his community won't support the Congress until it gets the same recognition too.
"Our demands are more than genuine. Sachin Pilot has promised us reservation but nothing has been done so far," he said, referring to the Rajasthan Congress chief.
The Congress, however, earned bouquets from Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda who hailed the party for clearing the Jat reservation bill.
"The committee is thankful to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and the Prime Minister. This was the right of the Jat community and they won their right," he said.
The principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), however, slammed the Congress for "political expediency". "Now when UPA is realizing that Jat society is in anger, it has taken this decision," Sudhanshu Trivedi said.
