I Love Him, Will Sort This Out Myself: Sidhu on Rift With Amarinder After 'Captain' Remark
Sidhu's statement comes a day after his wife and Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that the Congress leader's comments were twisted and taken out of context.

Jhalawar: Taking a U-turn on his 'Captain' remark, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday said that Punjab CM Amarinder Singh is his "father figure" and he "wouldn't like to wash the dirty linen in public".

"He (Amarinder Singh) is a fatherly figure. I love him and respect him. I will sort it out myself," he said in poll-bound Rajasthan.

Sidhu's statement comes a day after his wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that the Congress leader's comments were twisted and taken out of context.

"Navjot Sidhu’s heart is clean. He has not committed any mistake that he should resign. He has already said Capt sahib (Amarinder) is a father-figure to him. If outside Punjab, he said Rahul is the captain, what is wrong on that? He has not called (Narendra) Modi his captain. He is only calling Rahul his captain. And Capt Sahib’s (Amarinder’s) captain too is Rahul, isn’t it?" she said.

The controversy erupted on Friday after Sidhu said in Hyderabad that "his Captain was Rahul Gandhi" while reacting to the Punjab CM's apparent unhappiness over his visit to Pakistan for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor.

"Rahul Gandhi is my captain. It is he who sent me to Pakistan. Rahul Gandhi is the captain of the captain (Amarinder Singh) also," Sidhu had then said.

Meanwhile, the Punjab cabinet is set to meet at 3 pm on Monday. However, Sidhu, who is in Rajasthan, won't be a part of it.

What's your reaction?
