Hyderabad: Jailed former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, an accused in the illegal mining case involving Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), on Saturday moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court to seek bail after his similar pleas were earlier rejected by a local court.
The mining baron who owns OMC, in his bail petition pleaded that investigations in the OMC case are over and he be released on bail.
The bail application is likely to be heard on December 5.
Reddy, in his bail plea has also complained that he has been falsely implicated in the case for political reasons and those who did not like his success in politics 'masterminded' the case.
The CBI had arrested Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law B V Srinivasa Reddy, the Managing Director of OMC on September 5 from Bellary in Karnataka and the duo is presently in judicial custody and lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison.
The Special Court for CBI cases had earlier rejected the bail pleas of the Reddys three times.
The CBI filed a chargesheet against Janardhana Reddy and four others in the OMC case on Saturday.
It had registered a case against the company on December 7, 2009 at the request of Andhra Pradesh government in the wake of allegations of illegal mining and irregularities in allotment of mining leases to OMC in Obulapuram and Malpanagudi villages of Anantapur district of the state.
