The Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Tuesday cleared prosecution of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti in the infamous Khirkee Extension raid case.
New Delhi: The Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Tuesday cleared prosecution of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti in the infamous Khirkee Extension raid case.
In January 2014, Bharti along with his followers had allegedly barged into the residence of a few African nationals living in Khirkee Extension in south Delhi. He said his actions were based on complaints by other residents in the area that they had set up a drugs and prostitution racket there.
Bharti was the Law Minister then and the MLA from Malviya Nagar.
Following complaints by the African residents, the police slapped charges of molestation, assault and trespassing against Bharti and his men, which the AAP leader challenged in court.
