Voting is underway in Bareilly Cantonment seat in Phase 2 of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections today, February 14, 2022. The Bareilly Cantonment assembly election result will be declared on March 10. Bareilly Cantt is part of the Bareilly Lok Sabha constituency.
Voting is taking place in 55 Assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh , spanning nine districts of Amroha, Bareilly, Bijnor, Budaun, Moradabad, Rampur, Saharanpur, Sambhal and Shahjahanpur in western UP.
In Bareilly Cantt constituency, the BJP has dropped its current and four-time MLA Rajesh Agarwal. In his place, the saffron party has fielded Sanjeev Agarwal, who is the state unit’s co-treasurer. After Congress hopeful Supriya Aron joined the Samajwadi Party, the grand old party had to field Mohd Islam Ansari. The former Bareilly mayor, Aron is now the SP candidate.
Following is the complete candidate list from the Bareilly Cantt assembly seat along with details from their 2022 election affidavits as analysed by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR):
Sanjeev Agarwal, Bharatiya Janata Party
Sanjeev Agarwal replaced sitting MLA Rajesh Agarwal, who is a four-time MLA. Sanjeev is the state unit’s co-treasurer and is one of the four candidates in the assembly to be under the ‘crorepati’ bracket. He has Rs 23.5 crore as total assets, of which Rs 6.6 crore are movable and Rs 17 crore immovable, as per his election affidavit. He has Rs 2 crore as liability. The 59-year-old postgraduate has not declared any criminal case in his affidavit and has declared a self-income of Rs 14.3 lakh.
Mohd Islam Ansari, Indian National Congress
Ansari is the candidate to replace former Congress hopeful Supriya Aron. In his election affidavit, the 54-year-old has not declared any criminal case. The ‘crorepati’ candidate has declared total assets worth Rs 3.4 crore and no liabilities. Ansari is literate and has movable assets worth Rs 67.6 lakh and immovable ones worth Rs 2.7 crore. He has declared a self-income of Rs 3.1 lakh.
Supriya Aron, Samajwadi Party
One of the richest candidates in the mix overall, former Bareilly mayor Supriya Aron jumped ship from the Congress to the SP after 15 years. The 60-year-old ‘crorepati’ candidate has declared total assets worth a whopping Rs 157.3 crore and liabilities worth Rs 57.6 lakh. She has movable assets worth Rs 10.2 crore and immovable ones worth Rs 147.1 crore. She has declared a self-income of Rs 7 lakh. She is a postgraduate, as per her election affidavit.
Anil Kumar, Bahujan Samaj Party
Anil Kumar is a graduate with total assets worth Rs 97.8 lakh and Rs 8.2 lakh worth of liabilities. The 41-year-old has movable assets worth Rs 27.8 lakh and immovable ones worth Rs 70 lakh. He has declared a self-income of Rs 5 lakh and no criminal case in his election affidavit.
Ram Gopal Kashyap, Shiv Sena
According to his election affidavit, Kashyap has not declared any criminal case. He has declared total assets worth Rs 18.4 lakh, of which Rs 10.4 lakh are movable and Rs 8 lakh are immovable. The 43-year-old graduate has no liabilities and has declared a self-income of Rs 5.7 lakh.
Shivri Nagvanshi, Aam Aadmi Party
One of three woman candidates, Nagvanshi has not declared any criminal case in her affidavit. The Class 12 pass-out has declared total assets worth Rs 23.6 lakh, which also account for her moavble assets. One of the younger candidates in the fray, she has no liabilities, immovable assets or even self-income.
Rahees Miya, Vanchit Samaj Insaaf Party
According to his election affidavit, Rahees Miya has not declared any criminal case. Miya has total assets worth Rs 15.6 lakh, of which Rs 55,000 are movable and Rs 15 lakh immovable. He has no liabilities or self-income. The 67-year-old has claimed to be literate in his affidavit.
Vinod Kumar Gautam, Jan Shakti Ekta Party
A postgraduate, 43-year-old Gautam has not declared any criminal case in his affidavit. He has declared total assets worth Rs 36 lakh, of which Rs 12 lakh are movable and Rs 24 lakh immovable. He has liabilities worth Rs 15 lakh. The candidate has declared a self-income of Rs 5 lakh in his election affidavit.
Vishnu Mourya, Jan Sevak Sahayak Party
Mourya has not declared any criminal case in his election affidavit. The 31-year-old has claimed to be literate. He has declared total assets worth Rs 6.1 lakh, which also account for his movable assets. He has not declared liabilities, immovable assets or self-income.
Shahnaz Begum, Peace Party
Another woman candidate in the Bareilly Cantt fray, Begum has not declared any criminal case in her affidavit. The 38-year-old illiterate candidate has declared total assets worth Rs 10.5 lakh, of which Rs 2.5 lakh are movable and Rs 8 lakh are immovable. She has declared no liabilities and self-income.
Adarsh Kumar Gupta, Independent
One of the five independent candidates contesting from Bareilly Cantt, Gupta has not declared any criminal case in his election affidavit. The 43-year-old is a postgraduate. He has declared total assets worth Rs 36 lakh, of which Rs 12 lakh are movable and Rs 24 lakh immovable. The candidate has declared liabilities worth Rs 15 lakh, and a self-income of Rs 5 lakh.
Krishna Pal, Independent
With three cases registered against him, Pal is the only candidate to declare criminal record in his election affidavit. The 50-year-old is a Class 12 pass-out. He has declared total assets worth Rs 18.2 lakh, of which Rs 18,315 are movable and Rs 18 lakh are immovable. He has no liabilities and self-income.
Chandra Bhoj Pathak, Independent
Pathak has not declared any criminal case in his affidavit. The 52-year-old has claimed to be literate. He has declared total assets worth Rs 3.1 crore, of which Rs 29 lakh are movable and Rs 2.8 crore are immovable. The ‘crorepati’ candidate has liabilities worth Rs 4.2 lakh and a self income of Rs 5 lakh.
Mohd Nafees, Independent
Nafees has declared total assets worth Rs 2.4 lakh, which also account for his movable assets. The 66-year-old Class 8 pass-out has no liabilities, immovable assets or a self-income. He has not declared a criminal record in his election affidavit.
Sunil Kumar, Independent
Sunil Kumar has declared total assets worth Rs 12.8 lakh, of which Rs 1.8 lakh are movable and Rs 11 lakh immovable. The 49-year-old Class 10 pass-out has no liabilities, or a self-income. He has not declared a criminal record in his election affidavit.
